Legal Compliance Assistant

Compliance Assistant 

The Compliance Assistant will report directly to the Head of Compliance and Compliance Manager.

Duties and responsibilities:

1.  AML

  • Perform AML checks and ensure customer data is updated as required confirming it is correct to AML standards required
  • Create compliant solutions and procedures to ensure AML standards are maintained for complex cases
  • Advise on legislation including Anti-Bribery and Money Laundering Regulations
  • Ensure all AML policies and procedures are adhered to across the firm

2. Customer due diligence

  • Carrying out CDD on a full range of clients including individuals, companies and trusts
  • Answering queries from clients, partners, fee earners and other support staff about CDD requirements
  • Analysing CDD material provided by clients and advising whether further information is needed to complete the CDD process

3. Conflicts of interest

  • Carrying out conflicts searches using data submitted by partners and other fee earners
  • Reporting back to the partner/ fee earner on the results of the search
  • Escalating potential conflicts issues to more senior members of the team

4. Administrative tasks

  • Keeping the team’s filing up to date
  • Archiving
  • Data entry

Skills and experience:

  • The successful candidate will be a law graduate
  • Previous knowledge of Compliance including AML, Conflicts and Due Diligence
  • A particular interest in pursuing a career in Compliance  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deal with clients, partners, fee earners and support staff
  • Pro-active and demonstrable experience of using initiative
  • Good IT skills including proficient use of Excel, Word and Outlook
