Senior Conflicts Analyst - Leading Law Firm

Senior Conflicts Analyst Role for a top 20 Law Firm based in London.  This is a senior position and as a result the generous salary is reflective of this.

Overview of Role: 

  • Analyse information for the firm’s conflict management systems and other databases and liaise with lawyers with the purpose to identify any potential conflicts of interest relating to new matters and clients across all practice areas of the firm worldwide
  • Continually educate the Firm on compliance processes/ policies
  • Perform and organise training and mentoring sessions of current team on conflicts and commercial issues
  • Assist in assessing new compliance systems in terms of effectiveness and development
  • Maintain the integrity of the conflicts database to ensure information is accurate and complete
  • Assist with development of internal compliance and security policies, such as information barriers
  • Dealing with erroneous client names or client codes
  • Enhance a commercial understanding of the practice areas of the firm
  • Ensure all information is identified and collected to run an effective conflict search in accordance with the firm's policies and identify all relevant legal and commercial issues
  • Ensure current knowledge of the legal/regulatory requirements
  • Keep updated with the case law and regulations in place in all jurisdictions; organise training sessions when appropriate; update know-how pages and ensure our policies are updated accordingly
  • Liaise with partners and lawyers to assist with the development of internal processes to enable compliance with regulations and develop commercial policy
  • Initiate, produce and discuss relevant additions of knowledge or other useful information to our Compliance & Risk Management Intranet page
  • Participate, prepare and deliver team presentation as directed by line management
  • Mentor junior conflicts analyst and conflicts analysts to ensure a progression from the identification of conflicts to their resolution; ensure the transition is as autonomous as possible
  • Ensure weekend cover as agreed on the rota including mentoring the Conflicts Analysts new to the task
  • Initiate, schedule and document any training needs which arise out of the mentoring of more junior member and deliver constructive feedback
  • Assist Conflicts Team Manager and Director of Risk in difficult conflicts issues or other related compliance issue
  • Attend and conduct meeting with partners on conflicts issues by yourself and reporting back to Conflicts Team Manager or Director of Risk Management
  • Demonstrate an interest in raising the Compliance profile of the department in the Firm by delivering lectures to other departments as well as outside the firm

Education and requirements -

A Law degree or UK/Overseas legal qualification

  • Conflicts and Compliance experience in a top 10 Law Firm
  • Experience educating members of a law firm in Compliance procedures
  • Supervisory or team leading experience
  • Strong risk background from a multinational law firm working in the area of legal conflicts and familiarity with Solicitors Code of Conduct requirements and other jurisdictions professional Codes of Conduct
  • An understanding of the nature of the work in a corporate multinational law firm or other regulated professional firm; demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of how a law firm (or regulated professional body) works, its client base and the markets in which it operates, and familiarity with the structure of matters it takes on
  • Knowledge of or awareness of Professional Conduct rules and client care principles, in particular conflicts and confidentiality
  • Working knowledge and ability to use Compliance Databases (e.g. BVD, Worldcheck, LegalKey, or similar)
